Om Prakash Rawat
Om Prakash Rawat (born 1953) is an Election Commissioner of India. He is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1977 batch retired from active service in December, 2013. He served at various posts in Madhya Pradesh and at Centre including the post of Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Department of Public Enterprises from 3 April 2012 to 31 December 2013. Earlier in 1993, he was a Director in the Defence Ministry. He has also served as Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh between 2004 and 2006. An awardee of state government's 'recognition of forest rights' in 2009, Rawat did his MSc in Social Development Planning in 1989 in the United Kingdom.〔http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2015-08-14/news/65524658_1_public-enterprises-tenure-bihar-assembly-polls〕
He will have a tenure of more than three years which will end in December, 2018. An Election Commissioner has a tenure of six years in office or till he or she attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
